New Zealand Landscapes

The New Zealand Landscapes exhibition was more a party with an exhibition than an exhibition with a party, We had just returned to London after a long stay in New Zealand and were trying to get all our friends together to celebrate getting back into our flat after so long!
I had brought back to London five or six of the unsold paintings from the Incident Light exhibition held in Auckland in the same year and wanted to show what I had been doing while away, so I put those together with a few other smaller works I had laboured over in the evenings after hard days of landscaping work.
The exhibition was held on a sunny afternoon in the second weekend of September 2001. We sold a few pieces but mostly it was about having the chance to make connections with friends.
We still have three of the smaller pieces around our house and the invitations (hand coloured and drawn on watercolour paper) I found stuck to friends' fridges or on mantelpieces for many years later!
