I have been making sketches from quick snaps and hurried notes during my times in London or visits to other places - completing in more detail at home, the aim is to show atmosphere and movement - the ordered chaos of cities with the intersecting energies of vehicles and people in transit. The colours often dynamic yet grimy and distressed. I dont want to do pictures OF buidlings, rather pictures ABOUT buildings. I am not interested in perspective or a display of technical nonsense. its all about telling a story, showing not telling. Its about the atmosphere, the intensity, the volume and the effect on people. In a nutshell:the urban environment.
