The Norwegian Fjords
In the summer of 2023, we cruised the Norwegian fjords. It was mid summer but cloudy, cool, misty and damp. But the weather was just perfect for appreciating the fjords. The vast uncrowded, Scandinavian landscape inspired me to sketch fully and freely in an attempt to capture the incredible scenic beauty that exists in Norway.
For the Norway sketches, I worked in a tonal way with charcoal, then laid in thin washes of watercolour

Comments:
"Gareth, the sketches are so evocative, I want to go there!"
Anna F, London, England
"The sketches are so atmospheric and moody. You really get the essence of the place."
Trish R, Penryn, England
"I really enjoyed seeing the latest pictures of Gareth’s from Norway. I loved the use of charcoal and watercolour and noticed that he had used really good paper! The colours were a great representation of the place without all that sombre green of pine trees."
Margaret A, Bromley, England
